Study of Appropriate Indoor Air Quality Models in the Taiwan AreaDepartment of Mechanical Engineering, National Yunlin Institute of Technology, Touliu, Yunlin, Taiwan
Department of Mechanical Engineering, National Yunlin Institute of Technology, Touliu, Yunlin, Taiwan Theoretical models for both indoor pollutant concentration and indoor air humidity have been studied together with a general ventilation model for the prediction of indoor pollutant concentrations. These are discussed in detail with reference to carbon dioxide (CO2) levels using the concentration of 1,000 ppm guideline from ASHRAE Standard 62 as a design criterion. At the same time, a moisture balance linear differential equation was adopted to predict the indoor humidity from a ventilation airflow rate adjusted to meet the requirement of given CO 2 concentrations. The studies also took into consider ation the effective temperature required for indoor thermal comfort. Finally, weather data from Taipei city in Taiwan was applied to the design calcula tions.
